Ini-Obong Michael Akpabio was born on 9 Feb, 1961 at Onna. Akwa Ibom State. He attended Federal Government College Kaduna and obtained a Bsc, Business Administration from the University of Lagos in 1982. Additionally he obtained Msc, International Hospitality and Tourism from University of Surrey, Guildford, United Kingdom in 1985 and MBA, General Management from Ahmahu Bello University Zaria in 1998.
H was the Floor Manager of Mc Donalds Hamburger London from 1986-1987, financial Manager in American Life Insurance Company between 1988-1990.
He is currently a Board Member of several companies including Chairman, Dorchester Hospitality Services, Chairman Budget Hotels, Executive Director of African Hotels Limited and Managing Director at Nanet Hotels Limited, an organization that has managed over 50 reputable hotels in Nigeria. Nanet is the largest indigenous Hotel Group in Nigeria.
He is also Group Managing Director of International Nanet Group (the holding company of all Nanet subsidiaries), One time National President Hospitality and Tourism Management Association of Nigeria (HATMAN), Current National Deputy Chairman Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN) and Co- Author of a professional Book adopted by the NBTE for Polytechnic Students: titled: Hospitality Management Practices in Nigeria 2014.
